Being a very passionate photographer, it is perhaps unsurprising that I find all cameras to be wonderful man-made marvels of engineering. All cameras and lenses (and films and digital sensors) render images differently, just as all our own eyes do. I’m fascinated by these differences, how an instantaneous shot of our reality can be made so very different by the tools used to take that shot. Sometimes these differences can be very minute and esoteric, other times they huge and nearly completely different. Ultimately, though, I have never yet met a camera (or lens) I didn’t like or regard with respect! And, whenever I am asked by an aspiring photographer what is the best camera to go with, I always tell them, “The best camera is the camera you have. Just use it.”
