Square Format

A square format photograph requires ‘tighter’ composition than the rectangularly composed photos we are more used to seeing around, in my opinion. In the past, most square format photographs were taken with medium format film cameras, among these my favorite brand being Hasselblad. My square format photographs are sometimes taken with an old medium format film camera, while others I have simply cropped (from what would have been a rectangular image) to enjoy the compositional benefits of square format.
